Noteworthy alumni include billionaire Robert Smith, three members of Earth, Wind, & Fire, Apollo 13 pilot Jack Swigert, actress Pam Grier, actor Don Cheadle, Cleveland Cavaliers head coach J.B. Bickerstaff, and Hattie McDaniel, the first Black American to win an Academy Award.

Episode 11: Alexis Porter

Alexis Porter is an Assistant Vice President in the East Market for FirsBank and has worked bank since August 2019. She is also responsible for Relationship Management, Commercial Lending, Construction Lending, Business Lending, Business Development, Reviewing Financials, Structuring Loan Terms, Receiving Credit Approval, and Presenting Credit Requests for Approval to Loan Committee. Additionally, Alexis oversees development efforts of the Black/African American Business Development Group by sphere heading the down payment assistance programs: PATH and the Dearfield Fund.

Alexis has served as a mentor for Community Resource Inc for the 2020-2021 school year and for Denver Public Schools for the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 school year. She is also a alumni of the Urban Leadership Foundation of Colorado class of 2022.

Episode 10: Alexandria Nicole

Alexandria Nicole is a published author of the book The Entrepreneur’s Checklist, transformational leadership keynote speaker, community activist, and philanthropist.

She is the Founder of the tile installation firm, Executive Union Tile as well as Alexandria Nicole Consulting Ltd, a company she created to equip entrepreneurs with the tools the need to transform their business, attract clients, and build a strong presence in the market.

In 2020, she founded the grassroots community initiative, The Solidarity Talks, with a focus in building community relationships and encouraging more unity amongst humanity, through conversation.​

Episode 9: Lane-O

Lane-O (@laneolang) makes it clear that he knows how to craft a song. With excellent production, solid flows, and strong lyrics, Lane-O describes his music as timeless pieces. The Louisiana-born, Denver-living emcee’s music is authentic and vibrant, painting pictures of life as a family man who is pursuing his passions while maintaining balance and inspiring others.

Lane-O was featured in the 2020 Denver Film Festival and the Dream Create Inspire Tour; and has previously performed in Soiled Dove Denver, Live at Jacks, Larimer Lounge, Cervantes Masterpieces, and many more.

Episode 8: Whittney RoJo

Whittney RoJo (@rojowhitt) is a Money Healer from Boulder, CO. She is all about… Love, Money and Liberation. RoJo and her team at Lagerborg & Associates focus on values to create a safe and sophisticated environment for our clients to thrive. Whittney specializes in holistic financial planning to create generational wealth and collective liberation. After receiving a dual bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado in Spanish Literature and Psychology, RoJo had a career in education as an educator and administrator for 17 years. As a multi-cultural, female advisor since 2017, RoJo has a unique perspective to co-create successful results and relationships that create health and wealth in our community. In 2017, she made the switch to finance, and is now a licensed Private Wealth Advisor, as there is no freedom without financial liberation.

Holding space for leaders, warriors and healers who share a vision of empowering community is how RoJo honors those before us and those after us. RoJo currently lives in Aurora, CO with her husband Joseph, their daughter, Deva, and their cat, Isma.

Episode 7: Timniyha Owens

Timniyha Owens Consulting is an Inclusion and Belonging resource for companies and professional organizations, offering coaching sessions that emphasize the value of vulnerability, empathy, and telling our own stories.

Owner Timniyha, a recovering spoken word artist, is also currently producing a one-time scripted poetry show titled Death of the Duchess, which will be held at Redline Art Gallery in Denver on May 25, 2023.

Episode 6: Arianna Scott

Arianna Scott is a model, actor and entrepreneur who has a mission to help individuals transform their dreams into reality. She was born and raised in Denver, CO. Growing up she was always taught to be proud of who she is and her ancestors, whose shoulders she stands on to this very day.

Her recent accomplishments include roles on Yellowstone (2022) opposite Gil Birmingham and Wendy Moniz, All the Queen’s Men (2022) directed by Tyler Perry, and Ape vs. Monster (2021) opposite Eric Roberts. She is on the cover of the 2021 Interweave Magazine and has been in a wide array of commercials such as Dutch Bros Coffee, Hyatt and Bush’s Baked Beans, just to name a few. She established her own business, aL NEUR, after quitting her six figure corporate job and has not looked back!

Episode 5: Goldie Powell

As the CEO and Founder of Cyber Creationz, Goldie Powell fuels her passion for helping other women grow and thrive in Information Technology (IT). After obtaining her Bachelor’s in Computer Science from Langston University, Goldie jumped right into the field. While her hard work and diligence earned her positions with elite IT companies, she desired to do more for the IT industry and be a guiding light for other hopefuls. In November 2017, Goldie established Cyber Creationz to assist entrepreneurs in achieving their business goals through global advertising. Her passion for helping others shows in the attention and carefulness extended to her clients and initiatives such as Cyber Creationz Tech Camp.

Cyber Creationz has evolved to become an inclusive IT enterprise, providing a broad range of services. From creating and maintaining websites to designing logos, Goldie and her team enthusiastically offer their expertise to businesses and individuals in need.

Episode 4: Tamika Jones

Tamika Jones is the owner/CEO of Crossing Your T’s Resume Enhancing and Editing, and have been in business since 2012. She primarily focuses on career coaching, secondarily editing, and is currently working on grant writing courses so she can expand her services. Clients come to her to have their career documents revised (resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn profiles, mock interviews, and after interview communications) due to unresponsive applications, relocation, promotions, or career changes. After talking with her clients and seeing what they have to offer a company/organization, she tend to advise them what their next steps should be. There have been times where clients have come in wanting to apply for a specific entry level role but after discovering their talents, accomplishments, and education they were able to work together to apply for positions with a drastic pay increase/responsibility. She’s had the pleasure of helping clients from all over the United States and a few overseas. She has 15 years of leadership/hiring experience which helps her to pin point specifically what is needed to grab the attention of a hiring leader.

Episode 3: Mac and CJ

MrMac Transporting LLC is a Black-owned tow company based in Denver, Colorado. They are a locally operated business that provides towing and roadside assistance services to the residents and travelers of the city. With a team of experienced and professional drivers, the company is equipped to handle a wide range of vehicles and provides prompt and efficient services at affordable prices. They are committed to providing excellent customer service and strive to make the towing process as smooth and stress-free as possible for their clients. The company is proud to be a part of the Black-owned business community and is dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of our customers and the community.

Episode 2: Charlyn Moss

Charlyn is the Founder & CEO of Working Within, a resource platform that provides personal partnership and deep business acumen to Black social enterprise leaders looking to scale their impact and create sustainability in their operations. At Working Within, Charlyn works with leaders by creating and driving strategic shifts, building organizational effectiveness and capacity, partnering with team members, and reinforcing the social capital of her clients. She is able to amplify leaders’ personal missions and organizations through the Working Within podcast, too. Working Within started as just a podcast, but then kept receiving requests to speak, and then kept receiving requests to advise. Charlyn loves what she does.

Episode 1: Ajay June

Ajay’s journey in media began in Five Points where she worked for FSTV as a national broadcast journalist, producer and digital strategist for 8 years. After the 2016 elections she decided to branch off and start her own media company, Miss Money Shot Media. Although she is usually behind the camera lens, she also works with her team to develop digital strategy plans that uplift, empower and highlight the efforts of organizations on the front lines of social and racial justice work. She is a National Alliance for Media Arts & Culture Leadership Award recipient and sits on the boards of several media associations.
